Ingredients
- 2 oz bourbon or whiskey
- ¼ to ½ oz simple syrup*
- 2 to 3 dashes (2 to 3 ml) of Aromatic, Orange, Cardamom, Black Walnut or Mocha bitters
Instructions
- Combine whiskey, simple syrup, and bitters in a mixing glass with ice.
- Stir and strain into a lowball glass.
- Add large ice cube and finish with orange peel and cherry, or any choice of garnish.
*Start off with ¼ ounce of Demerara or Turbinado simple syrup and gradually add to adjust your preferred level of sweetness.
*You can make simple syrup at home by cooking equal parts sugar and water until the sugar dissolves on medium heat. Let it cool and store in an airtight glass bottle or jar, keep it in the refrigerator for a month.
