    Prep Time:    25 Minutes
    Churn Time:    15 - 20 Minutes
    Freezer Time:    4 Hours
Total Time:    4 Hours, 45 Minutes

    INGREDIENTS:

    Apple Pie Filling:

    • 2 Baking apples (such as Granny Smith or Honey Crisp)
    • 1 Tablespoon butter
    • ¼ Cup granulated sugar
    • 1 Tablespoon lemon juice
    • 1 Tablespoon water
    • ¼ Teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • ¼ Teaspoon ground cardamom
    • Pinch of salt
    • 1 Tablespoon corn starch

    DIRECTIONS:

    1. Peel, core, and dice the apples into approximately ¼” pieces.
    2. Melt the butter in a large skillet. Add the apples, sugar, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice and water.
    3. Cook on medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the apples are tender. Stir in the cornstarch and continue cooking for another minute until the mixture thickens. Remove from the heat and allow to cool.
    4. Add the heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, salt, bourbon and cocktail mixer to a large bowl. Whisk until thoroughly combined and the sugar has dissolved.
    5. Pour into an ice cream maker and churn for 15 to 20 minutes. Note that the addition of alcohol will slow down the freezing process so you may need to churn a few minutes longer than usual.
Note: If your ice cream maker requires you to pre-freeze the bowl, allow the bowl to sit in the freezer for a full 24 hours for the best results.
    6. Just before turning off the ice cream machine, add the apple mixture and continue spinning only until incorporated. Transfer to a freezer container and freeze for about 4 hours to fully set.
