Bourbon Barrel Ice Cream

Scoops of homemade bourbon barrel ice cream made with Rustic Oak Barrel Aged Mixer, heavy cream, and warm spices in a bowl.
  • Silky, boozy, and deeply caramelized, this Bourbon Barrel Ice Cream blends dairy, a splash of bourbon and Rustic Oak's barrel-aged cocktail mixer for a luxuriously rich frozen dessert with warm spices and charred oak notes. Churned until perfectly scoopable and finished with a Luxardo-style cherry, it's the easiest way to turn cocktail flavors into a spoonable treat.

    Servings: 4
    Prep Time: 10 Minutes
    Churn Time: 15-20 Minutes
    Freezer Time: 4 Hours
Total Time: 4 Hours, 30 Minutes

    INGREDIENTS:

    • 1 ½ Cups heavy cream
    • 1 ½ Cups whole milk
    • ¾ Cup granulated sugar
    • ¼ Teaspoon salt
    • 2 Tablespoons bourbon (whiskey, rye, or brandy).
Note: You may increase the amount of spirit to 4 or 6 tablespoons and should keep the mixture in the freezer for 20 minutes before churning in step 2.
    • 1 Tablespoon Rustic Oak Barrel Aged Cocktail Mixer
    • Luxardo-Style Maraschino Cherries for garnish

    DIRECTIONS:

    1. Add the heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, salt, bourbon and cocktail mixer to a large bowl. Whisk until thoroughly combined and the sugar has dissolved.
    2. Pour into an ice cream maker and churn for 15 to 20 minutes. Note that the addition of alcohol will slow down the freezing process so you may need to churn a few minutes longer than usual.
    3. Once churned, transfer to a freezer container and freeze for about 4 hours to fully set. Serve with a Luxardo-style cherry on top.
