Candy Cane Bourbon Sour
  •

A holiday twist on a classic bourbon sour, this cocktail balances citrus with sweet peppermint. The bourbon gets a minty sweetness from homemade candy cane syrup along with the warm spice of our Rustic Oak Traditional cocktail mixer. Instead of an egg white top, the foam comes from a bit of fluffy meringue for a truly festive winter sipper.

    Prep Time: 7 Minutes
    Cook Time: 5 Minutes
Total Time: 12 Minutes plus cooling time

    INGREDIENTS:

    Cocktail:

    • 1 Teaspoon meringue powder
    • 1 Tablespoon water
    • 2 oz. Bourbon
    • 1 oz. Candy cane syrup
    • ½ oz. Lemon juice
    • ½ oz. Rustic Oak Traditional Mixer
    • Candy cane for garnish

    Candy Cane Syrup:

    • ½ Cup water
    • 4 candy canes

    DIRECTIONS:

    1. To make the candy cane syrup, add the water and candy canes to a pot and simmer on low heat until the candy canes dissolve. Allow to cool and store any leftover syrup in the refrigerator.
    2. Add the meringue powder and water to a cocktail shaker and stir well with a bar spoon to build up a little foam.
    3. Add the bourbon, candy cane syrup, lemon juice, and Traditional mixer and shake vigorously. This is a dry shake (no ice).
    4. Fill with ice and shake well again (this is a wet shake).
    5. Strain into a cocktail glass and garnish with a candy cane.
